Korean Wolf Cloning Study

Hello There,

Here's a little science news that I read about in The Scientist...

Cloning and Stem Cells Journal epub-ed a paper on the first reported cloning of the Korean Wolf, however, as quickly as it was published, it's been taken down. Apparently, there were substantive errors in the manuscript; enough so that the authors couldn't just edit and submit for printing.

The South Korean research team was, in the past, spearheaded by Hwang, the scientist who has since been exiled from the scientific community for fabricating data (which, by the way, is becoming more and more of an issue with advances in software such as Photoshop and Illustrator that make it easy and enticing for researchers to "pretty-up" an image).

Certainly there must be a major breach in the data for the journal to pull the paper altogether, but in general, authorities are staying hush-hush. Evidently, there was an issue with data misrepresentation in one of the tables, but that could easily be the tip of the iceberg.

I'll update with more as I hear about it.
